How an MS Project Seminar can Benefit Managers

Seminar for sucessful business

One of the best programs for managers is MS project. This application, however, is not that well-known outside of project managers because it’s not a standard program included with Microsoft Office. The suite generally includes Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and a few other programs like Outlook and a photo editing program. Most people don’t really have any need for Project. However, if you are in project management and you have to juggle budgets, resources, employees, timetables, and more, MS Project can be a lifesaver.

However, this isn’t one of those applications that you can pick up and master within a few minutes. While it is laid out in a similar fashion as other Microsoft programs, you’re going to need to learn how to truly use all of Project’s functions to really get the most out of it. Attending an MS Project seminar can help managers really get the most out of the program. Managers will learn how to create budgets that are based on their resources and the work assigned to various employees. Tracking resources is incredibly easy, and the program can even estimate costs and timetables. Managers who attend these seminars will learn how to access each project calendar and how to shift resources between different projects and project dates.

Managers will also learn how Microsoft Project can be used with the Microsoft Office Project Server and Project Web Access. This allows them to share project information with others over their company’s intranet. Security options can be set up so that users can only access certain parts of the Project database. Managers, for example, would be able to access all projects, while employees may only be able to view those projects to which they are assigned. Most managers who try to learn Project by themselves may not be able to harness the many different features of MS Project Server, but by taking a seminar, they can learn how to make use of all the features that Project has to offer.
